Answers to Frequently asked Questions

  Passwords and Updates

  • My username and password does not work.
1:  Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive. We initially assign both in lower case.
2:  Is your subscription current? System will deactivate your profile if you let your subscription expire.
3:  We will occasionally reset all passwords for all users.

  • How can I change my username and password?
We initially assign your username and password. You need to call us if you want to make changes. We suggest you change your password from time to time or whenever you have employee turnover.

  • How can I tell if there is a new update?
Filenames on the download page are named by the county, month and year they relate to. Example: H200609 is the Hernando file for the month of September 2006.

  • What if I download and import the same monthly file more than once?
Software will recognize the data if it is already there and will not perform the import.

  Taxroll Software

  • My program has been working and now I get an "unregistered" error.
Our software is available for free download to anyone who wants to try it. It is programmed to run free of charge for a period of time. After that, you will need to subscribe to get a registration code. You will always need a new code anytime you re-install or upgrade the software, even if you have paid for it.

  • Why do I have to give my name and address when installing the program?
The data is needed so that the software can print a return-address envelope and/or an optional letterhead with your company name. It is used only internally by the program itself.

  • I installed the program but when I open it there is no information.
You need to import the sales. If you have subscribed to our service, you need to download the sales as per instructions and then unzip and import the files. If you just want to try the program, call us - we will email you the latest month sales data.

  • I downloaded sales from the website but can't find the file to import.
When you download the file, be sure to save it to a designated folder or your desktop so you can see it there. These are self-extracting zip files. You must unzip the files by double-clicking before you can import.

  • I copied the program files to another computer and now it won't run.
You must install the software with the installation program. Delete the program with the Windows 'Add/Remove' utility. If you do not see the program there, you need to delete the folders manually before installing. (call us)

  • I copied the Taxroll CD with my CD burner but it won't work.
Software will only work with the original CD. Please read the license agreement. We will not enable a program without the original CD.

  • I have a taxroll CD but can't open it with the 'Taxroll Button'.
Close the program and make sure the CD is in the drive. If the CD is in the drive and the 'Taxroll Button' is disabled, it could be one of several things:
1:  The CD is dirty - close the program, wipe the CD and try again.
2:  See if the drive is working properly when inserting the CD. You should see a flashing light. If the light continues flashing, the CD is not being read. Test your drive with a different CD. If it works with another CD, see below.
3:  The CD is damaged or scratched. There is no cure for that one!

  PlatView

  • My printer is connected but won't print.
Platview will only print to your Default Printer.

  • Section Maps only print outline.
If you are using XP or Win2K, with certain printers, you need to 'Force Resolution' from the section map print menu.

  • When I search for an address, program can't find the plat.
Most vacant parcels and some newer construction do not yet have an address assigned. Try searching for just the street name without the suffix.
